The final tournament of EURO 2020 has come to an end, and Italy has been crowned European champion. The final was watched by an exceptional number of people, as most of BritainReviews claim. Roberto Mancini’s team won the continental trophy for the second time after winning against England in the tiebreaker, 3-2, after 1-1 at the end of the 120 minutes of play.

Thanks to football and sports fans in general, we realize how important movement is in our lives. So we should all look for fitness material stores and get into sports as soon as possible.

Shouldn’t it be called EURO 2021?

If we take the logical line, yes. However, for complicated reasons and not exactly easy to understand, UEFA insists on maintaining the initial title of the tournament. In addition to the rules on trademark rights, the decision of this forum has pragmatic reasons: every ticket, every stadium decoration, every marketing object, no matter how small, should be withdrawn and produced again. However, from the point of view of sustainability, this would be unacceptable.

Where were the matches played?

Eleven cities have been appointed to host matches in the tournament after UEFA put pressure on them in the spring, asking them to allow spectators access to the stadiums despite the pandemic.

This has given rise to criticism. Administrations in three cities, including Munich, have refused to make such a commitment. While the Bavarian capital was still allowed to remain one of the EC hosts, Dublin and Bilbao were removed from the list.

The matches scheduled in the Irish capital will be distributed in other stadiums, and the matches in Bilbao will be played in Seville. There will also be matches at:

  • Rome
  • Baku
  • St. Petersburg
  • Budapest
  • Bucharest
  • Amsterdam
  • Glasgow
  • Copenhagen.

The big destination for all teams is Wembley Stadium in London, where the two semifinals and the final were played.

What game mode was used?

24 teams participate. For the preliminary round, the teams were divided into six groups of four, where they met their three opponents in the group. The first two teams ranked after this group stage qualified for the last 16, and the top four teams in third place in each group also went on. After that, the championship continued in the knockout mode until the final.

Who was named the best player in EURO 2020

UEFA awarded goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma the title of EURO 2020. The goalkeeper who broke away from AC Milan this summer was providential for Italy in the final with England, managing to defend two penalty kicks, those executed by Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka.

During the final tournament, Gianluigi Donnarumma scored four goals, all in the knockout stages, one each from Austria, Belgium, Spain and, in the last act, England.

If Gianluigi Donnarumma was named the best man of EURO 2020, the “star” of the final with England was Leonardo Bonucci, the one who managed to score the goal that sent the game into extra time in the 67th minute.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the competition in the eighth, finished the European Championship in the first place in the top scorers, with five successes, tied with the Czech Patrik Schick, but also with a decisive pass in the account.

Italy, the second EURO trophy in history

Due to the victory with England, Italy won the second European Championship trophy in history, after the one won in 1968.

Also, the “blue team” has four other World Championships won in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006.
